Integration

The path to Rural Roads Health Services was a journey started by two strong partners: this story is at the centre of our visual identity; as an organization we express it through countless touchpoints with our patients, team members and partners.

Through the road symbol, our logo depicts the journey to the full integration of Alexandra Hospital, Ingersoll (AHI) and Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital (TDMH) – to arrive at a stronger organization serving its communities. There is a shared vision of providing excellent patient care and access to integrated, specialized services through entry points close to home; and a view to the long-term sustainability of local health services. It reflects the “Rural Roads” name; inspired by the rolling landscapes home to the rural and small communities we serve. The heart-shaped horizon is an expression of our organization’s commitment to a caring experience.

In recognition of the historical significance of AHI and TDMH to their communities, a corporate colour from each site was embedded in the new logos – with the addition of a new complementary colour, green, often used to signify caring and nurturing as well as new beginnings and growth.

The new Rural Roads Health Services logo is a nod to our past and an expression of where our focus is for the future. We invite you to join us on this journey.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INTRODUCING RURAL ROADS HEALTH SERVICES

Ingersoll, Tillsonburg, ON – As has been previously communicated, on December 20, 2024, the Boards of Directors of Alexandra Hospital, Ingersoll (AHI) and Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital (TDMH) received support from the Ministry of Health (MOH), regarding the proposal for full integration under the new name of Rural Roads Health Services, with each site maintaining its individual name. The benefits and commitments of this integration have been shared throughout our journey and remain true. The proposed full integration date is April 1, 2026.At the June 2025 Board Meeting and Annual Members Meetings, the Boards approved coming together under a Common Board as well as a Common Brand Policy – outlining the use of Rural Roads Health Services (RRHS) to represent the integrated entity. The visual identity (i.e., logo, branding, etc.) for RRHS was developed in partnership with the Oxford County Communications team; in a process that engaged several team members. We invite you to read our brand story, (see sidebar right) articulating the meaning behind the design and colours. During the week of August 5th, activities were held internally with our team members to launch our new brand. It was an exciting time for all of us.

You will notice that we have transitioned from two separate websites to one unified website found at https://www.ruralroadshealthservices.ca/ – representing both sites and will be updating all social media sites as well. We hope you will “follow us” on LinkedIn, Facebook or Instagram at RRHS.

Over the coming months, we will implement new templates for memos and written communication materials using our new brand. You will also start to receive correspondence from our new email addresses (@rrhs.ca) as our email transition happens. I encourage you to update your address book accordingly when you see this change in emails from our leaders and team members.

Eventually our external signage will also be branded with RRHS while retaining the AHI and TDMH site specific identity. In the meanwhile, we have placed pop up banners at our main entrances to share our new branding with the people we are honoured to serve.

Where we are today represents an evolution of many years of strong partnership and intentional planning and engagement with team members, patients, partners, volunteers, and the community. Through this, we are strengthening the sustainability of rural small community hospitals in the ever-changing health care landscape.

Thank you for your support throughout this journey,

Nadia

INGERSOLL, ON & TILLSONBURG, ON – On December 20, 2024, the Boards of Directors of Alexandra Hospital, Ingersoll (AHI) and Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital (TDMH) received support from the Ministry of Health (MOH), regarding the proposal for full integration of AHI and TDMH under the Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, 2010 (ONCA). Our communication of this had been under strict embargo by the MOH until late last week.

What does this mean for us? The MOH has given approval for AHI and TDMH to integrate under a new integration name, Rural Roads Health Services, with each site maintaining its individual name. The proposed integration date is April 1, 2026.

Over the next year, steps will be taken towards a common board, one professional staff organization and further internal administrative integration (where possible). New integrated branding is in development in partnership with the Oxford County Communications Team.

As per the Boards of Directors, the key benefits of this integration are:

  • The strength of two hospitals coming together voluntarily in a large, complex health care system
  • Improving the sustainability of two small hospitals serving local communities

Where we are today is an evolution of many years of strong partnership and intentional planning and engagement with staff, physicians, patients, partners, volunteers, and the community.  We are excited about becoming one integrated organization with two local sites.  Through this, we are strengthening the sustainability of rural small community hospitals in the ever-changing health care landscape.
